The Impulse I test drove back in 1990 was not based on a Scirocco, it was
actually a very good handling car, some sort of passive 4 wheel steering (if
you can believe salesmen), 4 cylinder intercooled turbo, all wheel drive.
Was this model ever sold in the USA?
At the time I wasn't aware of the benefits of AWD and was too turned off by
the chintzy interior. Bought a Ford Probe GT instead. Not a very good winter
car BTW.
We didn't have the previous generation Impulse in Canada, but a friend of
mine has one now and it does resemble a Scirocco. Not sure of the mechanicals.
