knock sensor
Hi all.
I will soon be replacing the engine in the Coupe with the one from
my 4kq. I plan to install set + 1 of 1985 VW GTI pistons. They will
give the engine 10:1 compression ratio.
For that reason I obtained a knock sensor unit that I plan to install
along with the complete CIS-E injection system from the 4kq.
On wiring diagram it looks fairly easy install, but my consern is if
the knock sensor can only work with 4 cyl engine or can it adopt.
In theory it should not matter becouse spark is spark. The problem
would be if it dependent on both number of sparks and number of
rpm's.
If someone could help me with this one I would be greatful.
I know only on what signals it uses but nothing about how it uses
them to retard the timing (controlling the ignition control unit).
It basically sits between the Hall Generator and the ignition control
unit, and uses signals from K-Jetronic control box and fuel pump
relay.
Please tell me that it can work.
TIA
