Yes, there is an earlier edition ... two of them, in fact.  The first
Bentley (and NLA) covers the '80 & '81 4000 and the later edition covers the
'80 through '83 4000/Coupe.  Believe it or not, but the two aren't the same
-- the earlier one has a lot better quality photos and includes more info
about the not-very-common 5+5 than the later one -- and I found both of them
in a used-book store (as I have all but two of the Bentleys I own) for $20
or less.  Alas, I'm not at home tonight so I don't have the book numbers
handy...
