Hi Lino,
My '87 5kCSQ tranny does the same thing in the winter. I'm currently
running Amsoil synth. lube in it. Once the tranny warms up a bit the "whine",
as I call it, goes away. It is very faint, and like you say, by moving the
stick a bit it almost disappears when the tranny is cold. Let me know what you
find out if you switch to the Redline MT90; I've been considering trying the
MT90 because 1st to 2cd can be a bit "notchy" when the tranny is cold; in the
Summer it is not a problem and the Amsoil was an improvement over the factory
lube. But, I have a feeling that because the MT90 is a dedicated GL-4 it may
have an edge over the Amsoil in the winter. I believe all we are hearing is a
gear whine traveling up the shifter, and that's why a slight repositioning of
the shifter can cancel it.
