Re: L&L addendum - Homework calculations....
In a message dated 97-01-14 14:52:24 EST, you write:
<< Homework assignment: Given phil's desires above, how does one get better
light given his statement.....
Scott returns:
Phil, on your specific car: swap the UK/EC ........... replace the
driving/fogs
Result:
Absolutely no change in the outward stealth (and I say that tongue in cheek
given this is an Urq) appearance of phil's ride, better light pattern
abounds, and only some minor bracketry behind the bumper to install the

Phil,
I just did it again..... I keep forgetting that you guys drive on the wrong
side..... I put down on paper my explanation above and realized the first
part was correct, the second let me rephrase for my right squint bias, it
should read:
".... Or you can really go whacky and put the UK light on the right and the
EC light on the LEFT, giving you a crossover pattern in the center...." Be
advised, when I did this, oncoming got a wee excited that my highs were on,
but the pattern is nice, and prolly as acceptable in 55w form as what you
have been doing with the big guns in your stock lites>>>>...
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Lots of posts on this last one how bout drawings?
Let me try to clear this up some.... Euro lite pattern is this:
EUROS IN the UK:
Flat fog cutoff for RIGHT half of the beam, then 45% upangle pattern for the
LEFT side of the beam.... The object is to send more light down the side of
the road where oncoming traffic isn't, the LEFT SIDE of the road \__ \__
R

EUROS IN EC, available US, available UK
Flat fog cutof for the LEFT half of the beam, then 45% upangle pattern for
the RIGHT sid of the beam..... The object is to send more light down the
side of the road where oncoming traffic isn't, the RIGHT SIDE of the road
__/ __/

Both euros use the center light for the hibeam, the only PHYSICAL difference
between the two lights would be the lense pattern (at least on the 200, the
worst you do is the whole assbly, both are bolt in swaps)..... So my
suggestion 1, is to put a LEFT UK lense in the LEFT side and an RIGHT EC
lense in the RIGHT side.... This will give you the 45% upangle down the LEFT
side of the road for the left light, and the 45% upangle down the RIGHT side
of the road for the right light...... Hope this makes things clearer for
you, phil.... My second option (which fills the center more, but you are
flashed more often) is to use the UK RIGHT lense, and the EC LEFT lense As
I put the suggestion to paper post post, I realized it prolly wasn't so clear
......
SO, to summarize suggestion 1):
\__ -oooo- __/
L R < Left side UK, Right side EC
SO, to summarize suggestion 2):
__/ -oooo- \__
L R < Left side EC, Right side UK
HTH
