Re: effectiveness of quattro in the dry

Hey all,
Just thought I would weigh in a little here. In regards to whether the
quattro comprised an advantage, European Car had this to say: "I was driving
with several 5.0 Mustangs and Camaros, a few 911's, one 750 iL, several GTI's
. . ., a smattering of Corvettes, Alfas, BMW's and vintage domestic hi-po
iron. . . .Though considerably faster, the Mustangs and Camaros were no match
for the A4q; we ate them alive in the twisted sections. It was a picture of
pure frustration as we passed these guys in the corners only to have them
catch up on the straights and then drop back in the corners again.
Essentially, we surprised everyone with the car's skills, and the concept of
Audi's 'unfair advantage' became crystal clear." (European Car, Nov '96).
This was in a stock 172 hp A4q except for +1 wheels and tires. Just someone
else's $0.02.
