97 A4Q trailer hitch

I'm looking to put a hitch on my 97 A4 1.8Q for towing my motocross bike   
to races.  I only need a class 2 hitch.  Has anyone put a trailer hitch   
on their A4?
If so, did you lose a significant amount of clearance on the rear end?

Also, I talked with a hitch dealer that said he would charge about $160   
to do the wiring because he said he had to hook it up to the computer.   
 Sounded pretty hokey to me; on my old Rodeo, the wiring cost about $15   
bucks because they just jumpered off of the rear signal lines.  Thoughts?
