Yes Ian, You couldn`t have said it better! I own a 90 20 valve (1990) and 
of course I immediately recognized all the symptoms. Maybe I am lucky, so 
far I only dealt with the "bomb" and dead air condition unit, although I 
think another weak spot -at least on my car- are the brakes: had to have 
the rotors changed 2 years ago and now they are acting up again 
(vibrating), but I just live with it, because the rotors are SO 
expensive. Yes, I also experienced the muffler/donut situation...
But all in all, the car is a blast, recently in Vermont my car was the 
only one able to move after a big snow storm...
