1990 CQ - tranny oil capacity?

I have examined Bentley, peeked into the archive and have been unable to
find an answer. I had Chris Semple perform his usual magic on my CQ
recently, including swapping the tranny and diff fluids with RedLine.
Diff is fine. Every source I can find indicates the tranny holds 3.0 US
qt, however we have been able to shoehorn in only 2 qts.

He filled it for me, I drove it for a week to wiggle out any residual
air pockets, and in a visit for another reason he pulled the fill plug
(on the side, next to the right inner CV joint) to see if we could get
the third qt in. No dice. My request that he try caused a minor Exxon
Valdez on the floor of his garage, indicating that 2 qts was full. Any
ideas out there as to how I can get 3 qts in? Is 2 qts really all it
will hold? I seem to remember a thread a while back on the double top
secret method to get a third qt in, but can't find mention of it
anywhere.

BTW the CQ is *much* happier (Yo, propeller-heads out there, this is all
subjective, don't ask for numbers to quantify it, not intending to start
another synth vs. dino flame thread!) with all synth oil (Mobil 1 in the
engine, RedLine in the tranny and rear diff). Quieter starting, faster
to get full oil pressure after starting, easier to shift, diff lock
seems to engage and disengage quicker, etc.

TIA!
