Another CB victory

As long as it covers the bands and has appropriate resolution, a scanner can be 
used to receive CB broadcasts.  I have an AR1500 1000-channel scanner that I 
sometime use for this.
 
Take note of the SWR subthread, though.  An aerial must be tuned for optimum 
performance and the stubby whip supplied with most scanners is at best a 
compromise.  I'm thinking along the lines of a stealth CB installation.
 
Anyone in the UK got similar experience?  I've heard that the truckers pass 
traffic information backwards on the M1 southbound, at least.  What 
channel/frequency/modulation is used in the UK?  I know John Coughtrie always 
has one in each of his cars - he left the mounting in the car he sold me.
