In both cases the top speed is not limited by the red line but by 
the air resistance.  The only difference is that the '81-'83 Coupe 
reaches it in 4th gear while the '84 and up do it in 5th.
Even with the shorter final drive the '84 and up Coupes can not tach 
out in fourth gear (according to Car & Driver January 1985 issue 
109mph @ 6000 rpm).
