My wive's sled, 90 Audi 90, Lagos Blue,Auto Trans, had a problem which involved the cigarette lighter. FWIW, neither of us smoke, but do use a cell phone adapter. A fuse kept blowing...I don't remember which one and it is not pertinent to my post...that the dealer could not fix. After several unsuccessful and expensive trips to the dealer, I finally got pissed. When I picked the car up the last time, the problem was still not fixed.
I immediately made a U-turn and drove the car back to the dealer...said I wasn't leaving until they fixed it.
The bottom line...there is a tiny screw in the lighter which holds the element in place. The screw had come loose and was the cause of the short and subsequently the blow fuses.
