Had the same problem since mine was about 36 months old.  Thought I fixed the
problem by pre-coating the moving parts with white lithium, (do I hear
laughter in the gallery), so put the problem out of mind.  

I do remember reading an advertisement in AutoWeek or European Car a while
back (a year ago maybe), about some company in the American SW that claimed
to have a replacement package that used different materials and offer a
longer lasting replacement.  I now kick myself for not writting the phone
number down.  Does anyone else remember seeing such an ad?
