RE: A-4 :V-6 or 1.8 Turbo

I'm not sure that weight/HP has much value in selecting from these
vehicles. The A4T performs much better than would be expected because
the torque curve is relatively flat throughout the range (as with most
low-pressure turbo designs). Based solely on weight and HP, the V6 Audi
should blow away the 1.8T b 0-60 times are within 1 or 2 tenths of a
second (depending on who you believe).

If acceleration performance is a concern to your friend, I'd say get the
1.8T and one of the aftermarket chips.
