That's a similar problem that the designers of the Corvette ZR-1 had.  They
got around it by leaving a small "window" in the upper-right corner of the
windshield where there was no metallic coating (if you look for it, you can
see it).  Ideally, that's where you put the detector.  You might want to
check to see if Audi has done the same thing.
