The fuel pump only runs if the ignition is producing pulses for the coil. 
 (this helps prevent fuel spilling out if there is a crash and a fuel line 
gets cut - providing the engine is stopped).

Early engines used a position sensor on the air flap,  this won't work 
safely if the car turns upside down.

Bridge the fuel pump relay contacts with a wire link (with series fuse).
