Dead Audi/Fuel Problem?
I was driving merrily along on Saturday when my 84 5KS slowly lost power
until it was dead at the side of the road. My fuel level was low so I
assumed that it was out of gas. I hiked up to the gas station and added more
fuel to the car. When I tried starting it, it would catch and then die and
then stopped catching. I got the car home and started to try and track down
the problem. I tried to undo the banjo bolts on the fuel filter but could
not undo them. Does anyone have any advice or handy tricks for doing this? I
popped the cover off of the fuel tank above the sending unit to listen to
the fuel pump and heard nothing. Shouldn't I be able to hear something? I
have the process for removing the pump from the list archive, but it looks
like the retaining ring is corroded into place. Thank you in advance for the
help.
