I got new struts for my coupe trunk lid locally through Atlantic Imported
Auto Supply.  They are genuine parts, with the little four bullseyes on them
(made in Argentina or something), and were about $40 each.  

I *think* Atlantic will do mail order, their phone number is 603-868-1161. 
Tell them Huw sent you.

Also try the "real" supply houses in your area.  I experienced the "chain"
type reference book/generic strut type silliness, too.  Good luck.
