Alarm controller in '91 200q?

My mechanic is having trouble locating the controller unit in my new (to me)
200q sedan.  The alarm keeps going off intermittantly...

He's checked the microfiche for the 200 and for the V8, etc., as well as
called the tech school at Audi.  They came up with 3 locations, none of which
were right.

Seems the service documentation on this car is a little scarce...

FWIW, the mechanic and shop are highly recommended, and seem very
knowledgeable...just can't locate the controller to test what's wrong!
