It used to be true that tires had serial numbers that were written 
down by the shop when they installed them [for warratny/notification
purposes I was told].  If this was done for your tires you should 
have something to work with as long as they haven't taken the tires
off the wheels.  I can't say that I've noticed the tire places I've
been too lately writing these numbers down.  Is there anyone on the
list in the know on the current state of this?  Are the numbers still 
there?  Are they in a standard location?
