My '83 has about 140K and a filter/trap/whatever. I think that Audi calls
it a fuel filter because I think that it is exactly that ... a fuel filter
from a low fuel pressure carburetted car. Audi must have gotten a real
deal on these things, because the same filter is recommended as an oil
trap for the vacuum system on the 5k/200 climate control!

I will always keep one in line no matter what anyone says about removing
it. That filter will keep chunks from getting to the fuel pump ... cheap
insurance IMHO!
