I remember during my first few weeks of lurking last fall, it took a great
deal of courage to start posting. It seemed like anyone who left the
remotest chance for sniping criticism of their post got it, and fast. So I
learned to try never to say anything that wasn't clear, and that I wasn't
sure of. Reminds me of hanging around with 4 or 5 "friends" in High School
at lunchtime, basically just insulting each other (while discussing our
common interest, the school computer) and jumping on any weakness, however
small, to score points. OK, this list isn't that bad, and we all have to
wrestle with the immediate emotional response to tear someone apart who we
think is full of "it", but there is a fairly aggressive tone here, almost
daily.

For instance, there is no need to reply to the list to tell someone not to
reply with the whole digest, or to slam someone who can't figure out how to
unbuscribe. But people do anyway.

Trouble is, 2/3 of the posting is so informative and unique in content it's
worth it. If only all the angry retorts were made privately and kept that
way...

Wondering what kind of furor this will bring in return...

BTW, 222,222 on the clock last night, searching for more neatsfoot oil for
my leather, and trying to figure out how to stop the rust below each A-
pillar on my coupe.

Picked up the '97 Audi brochure at a dealer, boy, what a mess. There's just
"something" missing from it, I don't know what. The car on the cover is the
yellow I want to paint my coupe, though. They had a neat stand up display,
though, showing the Statue of Liberty up to her neck in snow, caption
"Remember last winter...". Coupe headlight bezels are about $225.00 EACH,
guess I won't be cutting up new ones for the side reflector (the screw holes
and little prong doohickeys are shot on mine).
