VW syncro vs 4000Q -Reply

I think I've got the answer to this thread since I seem to remember a
full
VR6 engine swap into a 1992 GTI with a custom syncro drivetrain done
by
Ron's Parts Inc. out in B.C.... The purpose of syncro is to aid
traction part-time aid.

Audi content: This is not the quattro awd system.

 >>(1) When I purchased my Synchro I also drove quite a few Q's.
The AWD systems definitely feel diferent than one another. However,
at THAT time the Synchro system seemed much better for my driving
needs. Advantages: smoother, still felt the grip when pushing or
when turning on dry and always feel it on slick roads, more room,
felt lighter and better balanced, cheaper, fewer of em.
Disadvantages: no four rings, no Audi sneers (everybody likes VW's
;-), less luxurious interior, mechanics don't even know what the hell
I'm driving.
>> Part-time traction may be most accurate, but I can honestly say
the difference between the two can be an advantage for the VW for the
majority of driving conditions.
>> LBNL, I just had to throw some dispute at another lister posting
to the same name ;-)
