First of all, note the BTDT. My post was based on ten years' experience
and close to 600,000 Autobahn kilometres. No - the 6xx and 8xx don't
get in the way at all - but they're rare beasts. If you're very lucky
and also drive a car without "eingebaute Vorfahrt" like I did with a
souped-up Passat, one of the rare treats is pulling out behind a 6 or
an 8 and being offered a "weave".

The system is that the guy in front does a little weave, and stops. The
answer is to turn your lights on. If his are on, and conditions permit,
he'll turn them off and then start _very_ gentle weaving from side to
side, well within his lane. You fall in behind, weaving in the opposite
direction. The effect is that drivers in front see one or the other of
your headlights alternately - the "flashing" effect is much more
noticeable than either driving along with your blinker on (which is
also illegal) ir just plain headlights.

I set an office record for Frankfurt --> Stuttgart once - weaving
behind a 6xx from Frankfurt to Viernheim. When the BMW pulled off I
resigned to a slower second part of the journey - then an AMG Mercedes
came out from Saarbruecken, cut in front of me, and instantly offered
 a weave. Bingo!

But I hold the position - underpowered BMWs clutter up the Autobahns.
And the 5xx is the worst of all, "M" or not.
