Some of the 5 cylinder engines are as well.  Be careful with generalisations.
 
(I note from gently playing with the cam pulley last night while changing the 
 hydraulic lifters that the MB _is_ an interference engine.  I'd always 
 wondered.  I don't think the WR is - John Coughtrie's turned freely when I
 played with it.)
