Re: quattro-digest V4 #580
People, People, People,
Can I believe my eyes when I read that the general consent of the
Quattro list is that the t-belt on 5 cyl's DONT NEED TO BE CHANGED????
(re: Murphy Was: Intro comments) I don't know about the rest of you,
but I generally like to follow the AUDI owner's manuals for
maintenance schedule . . . I must confess my current t-belt has over
50k on it, and it is beginning to show small cracks (dry rot) letting
me know that I'm driving on borrowed time. This notion of not having
to change the timing belt reeks of rice-burner poison; If you treat
your car in that manner, it will come back to haunt you. I plan to
hit the 300-400k mile range that the 5cyl can easily reach, and the
key is MAINTENANCE!!!
Maybe you guys should get one of those Generous Motors "100k miles
before the first scheduled tune-up cars" Oh, thats gonna work . . .
