Re- your questions:
1.- No specific problems with gas pump other than getting noisy. After noise starts, the
pump may last for 5o,ooo miles or more, it is only irritant !
2.- Computer (ECU) controls waste gate release, Internal spring controls mechanical
response to boost. In your case if you are getting 1.4 to 1.5 bar.... you are boosting
within good parameters, unless someone altered the computer mapping or spring wastegate
spring in which case you would fly ! and boost in excess or previously mentioned
readings.
3.- Fail safe device is computer controlled and is a gas pump shut-off via relay
intervention !
4.- Accuracy of reading of boost meter I believe to be +/- 10% but is affected by
adjustment.
5.- Water temp failure from intermittent to full death is "very common !!!!". Trouble is
multisender ( it also feeds computer ) located in the block at the point where the upper
radiator hose connects ( I believe there are two other sensors in the same area), and
the particular sender has an hexagonal brass nut, and a 4 wire connector coming in form
the bottom. It is the cluprit!!!.
6.- Replace fuel filter, air filter and check "ground connection to intake manifold" I
mean "clean it !!!", then check as many vaccum hoses as you can for leaks, in that order
Good Luck !
