Going FM modulator cd changers generally are fine, however you lose one of
your FM station presets to match the changer, which is an issue if your
factory radio has 5 or 6 presets. I have 12 FM presets on my aftermarket
(Pioneer) and its not enough. I'm a channel flipper I guess. The FM based
CD changer also gives you an extra control, depending how the model you
choose is configured, its a little box to glue to your dash, a wired remote
to sit on your lap, etc. The main advantage of a new head unit and CD
changer is the setup allows you to manage everything from the dashboard's
head unit, therefore no oddball wires or wired remotes. Some higher end
units come with an infra-red remote so you don't have to lean forward to
change stations/tracks/volume.

Plus, Pioneer just came out with a 50CD changer for the automotive
aftermarket... street price in NYC is about $500 or so.

Wow, 45 hours of music and no commercials :)
