Electric Fuel Pump Nightmare

Okay, here's the scenario:

Pulling out of my driveway, the car quits. I start it again and it fires up
no proplem and I drive on my merry way. I stop at the bank, get back in the
car, no problem. I head over to the grocery and now it won't start.

The first thing I noticed was the missing whine of the fuel pump following
turning the iginition on. I tried to trace the wiring, but that's when it
made no sense................

There was no power at the fuse, but on the relay, there was power on the 30
prong whether the ignition was turned on or not. Then, I checked at the
pump, no power. I even tried to run straight 12 volt to the pump but nothing
happened.

Does anyone know what the symptoms are before the pump goes and after? Too,
if it does go bad, would the symptoms I described be present? And finally,
does anyone have any advice or suggestions as to troubleshooting this
problem. Oh yeah, I tried replacing the relay to no avail.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
