electronic speedo doesn't work

A few months ago, I went to my local Audi dealer to have the alarm removed (it 
kept the car from starting). When I got it back, the speedo wasn't working for 
fear that the dearler may charge mne another 300 to fix that, I left. I did 
check the hall sender in the trans and the voltage is in fact, fluctuating 
telling me the sender is working. The trip comp isn't getting a reading either 
which leads me to believe that the break in the wiring is between the sender and 
the trip comp controller. I don't know what to look for, so if anyone can help 
set me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated....Thanks...steve
