Soooo,

The item on the back of the head IS the thermo time switch! Part
Number
043 906 163A-2pin-35 degC-Brown, I have three heads in my shop, and
4 thermo time switches!
What Phil is referring to may well be the "European version" 4kQ, or
4k, with
the 4 cylinder engine!
The water temp sender is 049 919 501B-2 pin white. I have three of
these in
my shop!
Now all this IS relevant to a US Spec 4kq! Which I have 2 in my
driveway!
and a third in the shop! Two have been serviced and maintained by
myself for the past 10 years!

Bad move! Not only will it never allow your engine to reach operating
temp, but
it will drain your battery, and burn out the rad fan much earlier than
the factory
intended. On an aluminum blocked head, the radiator fan is not
something that should be taken "lightly" especially in Texas!
