CB radio
Audi'ites,
Yesterday, I installed an inexpensive CB in the Q. Mounted it in the map
pocket and ran the antennae wire under the carpet, behind the rear seats,
and installed the magnetic antennae base on the trunk. It was not the best
radio or antennae but I am having lots of trouble getting all of the noise
out of the frequency. Does anyone have tips for "tuning" the antennae or
suggestions for a better location? I want to keep the antennae in such a
way that I can completely remove it for security.
Also, I simply spliced the switched and the positive leads together and ran
them onto the positive battery post. I notice a slight "buzz" when I
perform an electrical functions on the car through the CB. For instance,
running the wiper spray produces the this sound. Lowering the stereo
antennae also does the same thing. Any further advice on noise suppression,
etc. would be appreciated.
Lastly, I used a simple switch to alternate the source on the front left
speaker between stereo and CB. Works great until I go to talk on the CB.
When I hit the transmit switch, I get massive backtalk through the speaker.
I don't have the problem with the CB internal speaker though and the wiring
on the switch I rigged is so simple that I cannot believe that's the root cause.
Thanks in advance for any help, I'm definitely new to CBs.
