A4 gearing questions

A few questions about the gearing of the A4:

(1) Can the final drive from a FWD tranny be swapped into a quattro
tranny?  (Knowing nothing about the design of gearboxes, aside from what
I see in the Bentley, I don't know what the "final drive" really is)

(2) What RPMs does the 12v V6 and 30v V6 quattro turn at ~80mph in 5th?

(3) Assuming the V6 is geared higher than the 1.8tq, would it be possible
to swap in the pertinant v6 tranny parts to the 1.8tq?? (5th gear and/or
final drive)  Are the transmissions significantly different?

The RPMs my father's A4 1.8tq turns at highway speeds is driving him
nuts, and he is looking into every possible option to lower them.
