You can ask but I'd be very surprised if they agree to do it ... when I had
my local VDO shop fix a spare (but broken) odometer so I could replace the
broken one in my '81 4000, they said state law didn't allow them to do that.
Because they were just working on the odometer itself, they put a sticker on
it indicating the date the work had been done and warning that the mileage
showing may not be accurate...
