AC conversion for VW

Hi all,

All this talk of A/C repair and conversion coupled with summer in southern
California has gotten me thinking of fixing the dead A/C in my Scirocco.
There was a post about someplace called ICE in San Diego, do they do
conversions?  Has anyone done a R134 conversion on a VW with a sanden
compressor?  Does it work well?

On another issue , when putting in a replacement compressor and
reciever/drier, should the threads be wrapped with teflon tape, or will
this prevent a good seal?
