New 1998 Passat 1.8T sighted

On the way to work this morning I spotted what at first appeared to be an
very dark green A-4 turbo, but what turned out in fact to be the new Passat
1.8T, complete with "in-transit/repair plate."  This was a eurospec car,
complete with fuba center/rear antenna and elongated license plate opening.
 Taillights were all red as opposed to the yellow/red of the A-4.  Dramatic
from the rear and rear 3/4 view, but not very impressive from the front (as
viewed through my rear view mirror).  Someone must be taking it around for
evaluation.  Audi/VW/GM/Ford/ and Chrysler all have proving grounds within 30
miles of here and any one of them could be testing it or having it serviced
at the appropriate dealer.  Morning commutes don't get much more exciting
around here.
