What's the deal here???
Drove to EVERY Audi / VW dealer in Northern California this weekend. 
Half-fun, half-aggravating.
Here's my beef:
97 A4tqm   MSRP  $29,500
98 A4qt       MSRP  $31,000

The 98 has the new 5v, has beautiful leather seating, tiptronic
trans.
The 97 has sport package (+1300ugh), sunroof (+1300?), cold package
(+1600), cloth seating, manual trans.

I thought this 1.8tq was the poor enthusiasts chance at new Audis? 
Whay would anyone in their right mind by the 1.8 when the 2.8 is
sitting right there for such a meager difference in price?  Of course
I realize the ability to modify is sweet, but all other factors
considered (seating, wood dash, etc...) it just seems too damn much
$$ for the 1.8.
I realize I'm bashing the new car guys a little with this, so please
tell me this is an aberration & I should shut-up and find a 1.8tq for
~24k?  Base is 22,900 right?

Also, for those of you BalQ's (SF Bay) looking for stock.  The ONLY
dealership that had these was Concord, CA Audi off of Market ST I
believe.
