Some stuff I forgot to mention:

I tried that but I must have a break someplace else.  The wire from
the brake pads is shielded and twists and turns in the engine compartment
to the point I can't find it.  Also tried cleaning the hell out of
the female receptacles to no avail so that is why I am resorting to
the Kostal.

Thanks again all for your indulgence with this minor boil on my Quattro's
butt.
