Hmmm... OK, this is _way_ off topic, but... my brother drives a Nissan
Primera (Infiniti G20). It came out better than the A4 in a recent British
crash test (shocking, I'd say!)- see Top Gear magazine, I think last
month's issue. He drove his first one, an underpowered 1.6, very hard for
more than 200,000 km, and it was still like new. The oil was still clean
(and it didn't use any), it still felt tight and together. His current one,
a 2.0, is even better.
Believe me, I don't like the car's blandness, the feel-less power steering,
the 16v engines that are gutless at low revs or the cheap-feeling
materials. It is however of the highest build quality, the dealer service
is top-notch, and it's a rather fast car to boot (150 bhp 2-litre 16v).
Nissan have progressed immensely since the dreadful Bluebirds of the 80's...
Right gents, back to our scheduled programme.
Tom
PS I'd like to try the new Passat and the A4 side-by-side. Having driven
the Passat, I can't believe the A4's even better. The build quality of the
Passat felt as good as, if not better than, any Audi I've driven. Sporting?
Hmm... I'd have said it was, but that might have had something to do with
the non-quite-standard suspension, methinks.
