I had heard that as well, but I don't see any way that doing so will
make the visor stay in place any better ... it might give the mount
more friction, but IME the problem is the rod on which the visor
pivots. I decided to disassemble one to see if it would be possible
to repair it ... and found that the rod on which the visor pivots has
a flat spot on it, and the visor has a bent spring steel clip that
rides on the rod such that when the clip gets to the flat spot it will
tend to hold the visor in place. Unfortunately the clip breaks ...
and there isn't enough friction otherwise to hold the visor either
against the windshield or in the stowed position. It appears that if
you cut a small flap in the visor material and fashion a suitable clip
that you could "rebuild" a broken visor. I'm thinking about adding a
screw and nut with a couple of washers to provide more friction ... and
make the visor much more like the old style, which could be adjusted ...
HTH!
