No offense, and this is a little late, but when part of your Audi (or any
car) starts sounding like it's got sand in it, that's a good time to
immediately stop using that part until it can come apart and get fixed. 
Sure, you can drive on bad CV joints for a few k, or a worn shock, but even
so, one should only do so on reliable advice.

So anyway, yank the door panel and take look - may just need a good cleaning
- Wd-40, brake cleaner, lotsa fresh grease.  Good luck!

Oh yeah, and when your engine sounds like it's got water in it, replace it.
