Radio Harness/adapter-kits
Yesterday purchased a Sony head unit to end chronic Audi feah unit
failures. I asked dealer for harness and he gave me one that is
labelled "87-93 pre-amp speaker lead w/ remote amp signal plugs into car
harness". Its made by Metra and part number is 70-9001. Its a ten-pin
female arrangement.
Don't know if this will help much.
Pulled out my Delta and noticed following: any harness would require
three female plugs. One like the Metra I purchased - I believe they are
the low-level signal for the rear speakers; and two 8-pins one for the
front speakers and one for the power supply/ground. BTW, the labels on
the Delta indicate manufacture by Blaupunkt/Bosch (figures!) and that
20W per channel are being fed to the front speakers. Also, the antennae
wire plug resembles a coaxial cable, so you'll need an adaptor for that
as well.
Bottom line: I think the female plugs look like a standard VAG issue,
you'll need 2 8-pins, 1 10-pin, and an antennae adaptor. I haven't done
the install yet so I may be in for suprises.
I bought a Sony head unit XRC520- it was cheap and has dual illumination
(although it is not able to illuminate concurrent with the rest of the
dash). Hopefully will fare better than Blue dots.
Good Luck!
