Unka Bart is being more than a little simplistic.  As with most tragedies, there was a series of events that had any one been broken, the tragedy 
probably wouldn't have happened.  If the driver wasn't drunk, if they were belted in, if the paparazzi weren't chasing them, if there was armco along the 
tunnel, and who knows what else.  I'm sure that if the driver were alive, he'd be prosecuted too.  The paparazzi chose to persue the car, which caused 
the driver to try and evade them, his drinking caused him to lose control, yada yada.  It's causality.  

That said, I pick my moments to speed as well because some moron might do something unexpected, and as above, half of the blame would fall on my 
shoulders because as I am responsible for my actions, the other driver is responsible for theirs.

As for the Vette accident, the law probably placed the blame on your friend, you seem to place the blame on yourself, I'd place on the both of you 
because you both could have prevented it.
