My "new" '86 5kcsqt has this problem so I went out to my favourite local wrecker. They wouldn't sell the switch seperately, so I bought the entire
steering column for $50. More than I wanted to spend, but maybe I can fix the broken switch and keep it as a spare. The nice part is that it's an easy
part to test, mind you, I don't know how much life it has left.
Somethings I avoid going to Audi places because they know the value of what they have. ie: got a cruise control module and a couple of window switches
for $50. The local Audi dealer wanted something astronomical (~$650?) for the CC alone.
My advice is to call a few wreckers and ask if they have any Audi's. It did take me a while to find a place that had enough Audi's to make finding parts
likely.
