Re: Cooling fan after shutoff - UPDATE

This morning I discovered that when my cooling fan comes on after I shut

Do I have something wired incorrectly? Perhaps a certain speed of my
fan is not coming on with the ignition on, but rather only when it's off
because of some reversed wires.

Now, I (Ken) write:

Hmmm... But, my car is a Coupe GT. No turbo, and timing belt driven
water pump. See what I mean?

The cooling fan I'm referring to is the radiator fan. Why would it shut
off when I turn the key on? If it's hot enough to run with the key off,
why not with the key on?

My car's "normal" operating temp is two clicks away from full hot on the
analog guage. When driving hard, or on a hot day, or w/the a/c on, it
climbs to ONE MARK AWAY FROM FULL HOT! This can't be normal. There's
got to be something wrong.

The water pump, thermostat, and hoses are all new. The radiator is a
new used one I put in to see if it was that. Nothing seemed to help.
The fan switch has blue plastic (I'm told they are color coded), and the
thermostat is an 80 degree, German-made.

I'm thinking that maybe the fuel mixture is a little lean, causing it to
run hot. But then, the wierd thing is it "tries" to heat up to that
temp, then it maintains it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ken
