The roads are pitch black up there - no street lights and no moon, so I
would have noticed - but the M1 junction is lit. I suspect the fuse went as I
switched the mains down to dipped for the traffic island. I went round the
traffic island in a 'spirited' manner, at around 60mph, and then half-slid into
the slip road down to the M1. The police car was just past the bend in the slip
road, pulled well in and in darkness. As I hit the M1, he switched on his
lights and came down to follow me, which he did for around two miles before
going pyschedelic. He stopped me from behind, BTW, in line with new practice.
I also have to comment that the fuseholders in the aftermarket auxiliary
harness could be more solidly constructed. I replaced a 20A fuse with a 25A,
so I need to check everything anyway later on. This is the second problem I've
had with this harness - a couple of weeks ago it broke one of the plastic
adjusting levers.
