There are _TWO_ valid 'standard British' clusters - that's the problem.

The earlier ones are identical with the Coupe of the period, and have
a single twin-filament bulb each side for sidelights and brakes. The
smaller filament is the sidelight, and the larger is the brake light.

On the ur-quattro, this cluster was replaced after only a short run by
one with _two_ twin-filament bulbs per side, switched in parallel.

The sidelights thus show two lights per side from the rear, as do the
brake lights.

It's important to get the right one, as the fittings are slightly
different.

BTW - many manufacturers ship sealant with lights. Audi don't - you will
need a strip of gooey plastic sealant to trap between the light cluster
and the body. From Audi, this stuff is hideously expensive - a list
member mentioned a long time ago that Porsche sell exactly the same
stuff at a fraction of the Audi price.
