As Tom (of some relation :-) ) said, '98 model A3,A4 and A6 (VIN code W)
have the the stalk-control intermittant adjustment. Firs week of 1998
(real 98) MY A4 production was on either week 32 or 34, if I recall
correctly. We still have not received the first '98 A4's here in Finland,
got our first batch of A3's today. I don't quite understand Audi of
America's idea of calling what in effect were 97 MY cars with the 30V
engine 1998 models. The stalk has a little 4-position lever on the top
surface, so you would need the new stalk, maybe some wiring and a relay to
start - have not researched this yet.
