I will not enter into a speaker debate (because I don't know enough), but:

There are several options in the 4 in speaker market.  Crutchfields lists a
few 4 inch, but there is, of course, a larger selection in Europe.

Blaupunkt makes a 4 " separate woofer/tweeter combo, but it is treble
biased.  Ligne Bora also makes something similar that is highly regarded.

I'm going with 4 inch MB Quart co-axials up front.  Full dash surgery
starts tomorrow (temp sensor, speakers, cruise).  The rear speakers will
come along later.

The 200 (non-Bose) also uses 4 inch front speakers.  Not just any 4 inch
will drop in, either.  There are only two "ears", so a speaker with four
mounting brackets will need to be customized.
