I hope that you bought a suitable car for him to use - I believe that all 17 
year old lads should be made to drive 10 year old 1 litre Ford Fiestas - in 
beige. 
Two reasons :

1) Character building - You can't pose in it and there's no way that you can 
pull birds with it.

2) It has no performance so the 'Boy Racer' urge is held in check until they 
have got more sense and hopefully a bit more driving experience.

This would do more to make our roads a safer place than these d*mn silly green 
'L' plates that you see. The automatic 2 year suspended 6 penalty points is a 
good idea too - probably the only piece of motoring legislation that I have 
agreed with in the last 20 years.
